We purhased a 12 foot diameter inflatable pool for my daughter. I want to have it elevated if possible, to give the grass some chance of living.

My first idea was wood pallets with a plywood topcover. Most pallets are 36" so I would have 3 to a side and on in the middle. Then plywood screwed down over joining all the pallets. Maybe some 1 by 2 trim and some nice white primer to lessen the white trash look. (not meth white trash but lower middle income white trash)

I figure this would be much cheaper than than concrete stands with 4 by 4 or 4 by 6 or whatever size I would need.

The pool has a 1700 gallon capacity. Would the pallet/plywood platform hold the weight?

Any ideas plans recommendations? Thanks.

I think a gallon of water is about +-6lbs.

Just real quick in my head it sounds like 5 tons or so

ETA after research  1 gallon of water equals 8.33 lbs X 1700= 14161 lbs

I think the pallets would work, but your grass would still die, just pick a spot and accept the loss of vegetation.

1 gallon of water at sea level is 8.6 pounds.

1 gallon of gasoline weighs about 6.5-6.6 lb. Water should be heavier than gasoline.

Yep, w/o light the grass is gone.  My neighbor moves his trampoline every few weeks and the grass under that is getting yellow.  The tramp sits 3 feet off the ground and allows some light and water to reach the grass.  With the pool...  You might as well be growing grass in the basement w/o the advantage of grow lights.

+1

I have one of those blow-up water slides for the kids.  It does not stay up for longer than a day, but I still  have a dead spot from it.

Give up on the grass.

Even if you could elevate it safely, enough to let sufficient light in, the spashed out chlorinated poolwater will do it's own damage.

This is one of those times you can have either, but not both.

The pump has a built in filter ala fish tank. You replace the filter every 2 weeks so no chlorine.

I though maybe the yard would recover more quickly with some airflow instead of being completely smothered.
