Started day threading  1.25" galv pipe.  Easy morning.

Stray splinter gets deep under a nail.
Ye flipping angry gods!  Pain on every level of comprehension!
I pull it out pretty quickly, take a few moments off, clean off a few chips, have a quick drink of water.
Then I went back to work.

Later in the day I ran into the engineer / VP that was in charge of the project that need so many pipe nipples.  Asked about splinters under the fingernails.

This engineer discussed the matter for a few minues.  He used to be a shop monkey.
Ultimately said soaking finger in bourbon, whiskey, vodka, denatured alch. and so on would

a.  dull the pain
b.  cause skin to contract - which [according to him] helps to remove the splinter

SO - what is the preferred way to remove metal splinters?

Any gems out there?  Any secrets??

As I am doing this until I get word on my ship date, any info from  y'all who've been there is really, truly appreciated.

I use a jewelers loup and tweezers or a needle.  Let it bleed.  The blood flushes the wound from the inside out.  Wear gloves if your not using a power threader.

Was using RIGID #400 and a........um.......shitty.......die.

Teeth needed replacement.  Engineer need a dozen or so 18" length 1.25" dia. galv pipe nipples.

He made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

This has been a learning experience.

Thx.
