[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Religious thread forum? (Page 1 of 2)

| Should there be a separate forum for the religious discussion? |
You might not consider them religious beliefs (because I don't go to a special place or have a book about it) but I am a Deist so yes. |
sigh See, this is the problem that we run into here. I post a quote from a popular, well known movie(Blazing Saddles) that happens to have the "N" word in it and it gets edited by someone who's not even on the mods list(I checked, you're not there 1Gunrunner.) but it's ok for Blacks to use the "N" word over and over in a rap song. This is the hypocracy that just drive me up the frickin' wall. The quote was simply to show how "crasy" the "Unless they are muslims of course." part of MC4H's post was. Seems like people need a bit thicker skin or something. Too many of em' are wound up way too tightly. Like I said before. "Lighten up, Francis." Geeze.

Well, based on you post in other eligious thread you are a disruptor. So wheather the threads are here or in another forum should have no bearing on your time here at ARFCOM, unless your goal is to troll religious threadfs. Which I think it is. Sgat1r5 |
It's not. Sometimes I wonder how thoroughly people have examined their beliefs or convictions so I try to find out. Sometimes it might seem like trolling. It might be just provoking people to critically view what they profess. It might seem like trolling because people are sometimes uncomfortable with the answers to the questions I ask or assertions I make. That's not a reflection on the question or assertion though. It's a reflection on the answer and the belief that lead to it. Unless you define trolling as having a different opinion than you and expressing it. |
Nope, waiting on a hardtop. I'm prepared, I put an 18 volt sawzall in the truck
|
|
Well, that's the problem Legend. In many of these discussions you and other tend to point out the priceived short comings of Christians instead of posting how it applies to your belief system. Now granted, many of us Christians do the same thing.. My point being that religious threads would go much nicer if people posted about how it impacts them instead of how they think it should impacts others. Sgat1r5 |
| This is a perfect example of how these things "get out of hand". First Mr Clean says something about SgtAR's penis then he talks about a Sawzall then I say something like, "Gee, Mr.Clean, you wouldn't need a Sawzall to cut that little thing off." then SgtAR will "come" back with something crazy and the games are on. LOL. |
More fun than talking about religion huh? |
Soi do you or do you not want to see pics of my green Irish Catholic penis? Sgat1r5 |
I haven't criticized Christians too strongly as far as I remember. In the PK thread I posted a reference that was critical of the PKs saying they were not Christian. My biggest issue with the Christians on the board is this: The nation was founded by Christians and Deists who got along well enough to win a war and set up the greatest country yet but some of the Christians seem intolerant of non-Christians often. There was enough respect to do the "freedom of and from religion" thing but here it just doesn't seem to work like that. I am happy living among Christians and I accept that they have chosen a belief system they are comfortable with. I just don't claim to know ask much or as many details about the Creator, the afterlife and so on. |
A celtic weenie? |
It was until St. Patrick showed up, that's when he used his whistle to drive my green snake outa' ol' Ireland
|
Isn’t that more or less what happens with any subject on the whole forum? |
Was it a dick whistle? Did he whistle and you came or was he just a blow hard? |
Has it been curcimsized and if so then how do we know that it's not a Green Jewish Penis??? |
|
Fod God's sake (no pun intended) please make this a reality... then we can focus out collective efforts on getting a TV/Movie forum and a current affairs/world & domestic news forum. Then the GD can be used for it's intended purpose... pointless/meaningless topics... |
Fucking feels good, or the fact that their women cook and that makes men horny. |
Because Catholics don't mind sharing....... SGat1r5 |

personally i'd like to see a tightly moderated religion forum. the trolls could be QUICKLY dealt with by staff. sadly in GD there is no such thing as a GOOD religion thread. i think i can count on one hand the threads that actually didn't turn into a flame fest by page 3. |
Do you think that's the work of "trolls" or because it's a controversial topic? If all religions (and atheism) are given equal respect, who is the troll? It's almost like bringing up religion at all in any thread is trolling. Because it's bound to elicit a negative response from someone. And everyone knows it. |
I was just polling to see who thought there should be one. I know it has no influence on site decisions. This is just a discussion topic. |
Hey man! It was a question, not a suggestion.
|
Rag top? |
I would have to respectfully disagree with you on that, TBS. I have seen a number of good theology discussions held on GD. Sadly, as soon as the Christian-haters show up, they usually go south. It is interesting to me that non-believers like my friends SteyrAUG, Driftpunch, and others can join the discussions, have different views and disagree in a respectful manner and we have interesting discussions and debates. But there will always be Christian-haters that want to just come into the thread to crap on it. Of course, many of them are also the guys that join other threads where they do not know what they are talking about and try to ruin them too. Maybe the problem isn't Christians or non-Christians, but instead Christian-haters. I'd vote for them a "special" board. Over on another forum. |
OP, Have you identified key "Christian Haters"? If so, am I among them? because Sarge seems to think I have spoiled or trolled some of the religious threads he has been in. |
Sure. Christian hater = someone that hates Christians and Christianity. Easily identified by their constant hate-filled comments about Christians and Christianity. If they have "Beliefs" of their own, they hardly ever talk about them. Instead they constantly ridicule Christianity and Christians. Some of their favorite (and totally ignorant) phrases include: Christian Taliban, Crusades, Inquisition, Witch Trials, and other phrases that only show the weakness of their arguments and grasp of histroy. They refuse to admit that if Hannibal Lector says, "I'm a Christian" and then murders and eats dead people, that does not mean that Hannibal is really a Christian. He, of course, would not be a true Christian because he is not following Jesus' teachings. Christians are people that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. If someone says they are a Christian and is a serial killer, they are lying. Everyone that has a room temperature IQ understands this concept. Except for Christian-haters. (Actually they understand it. They are just dishonest and pretend that they don't.) They are as easy to spot as a Liberal. |
So I guess I'd be on your "list" because I tend to point out the things that have been done in the name of the Christian god over the years and show the hypocracy that some(not all but some) Christians live in their day to day lives. First off, I don't "Hate" Christians, hel, I'm married to one for the gods sake. Second off, dare I point out all of the "Asatru Haters" are lurk here on the boards? But then I guess it's ok to say bad things about my religion but I don't have the right to say anything bad about yours, is that about it? Talk to me OP, not trying to get nasty about this but I'd really like to know where we draw the line at "Religion bashing".
