Just checked my closet where my fireworks are stored. Yep, still in there, and nope, they didn't cause any fires today.

Whew, I must have gotten lucky.

A lost hunter lit a campfire that eventually caused a fire than burned over 200,000 acres, 200 houses and killed 21 persons in San Diego County.

Should we consider throwing some birdshot his way?

What's your point?

As a firefighter I responded to more fires caused by Christmas Trees than Fireworks.

Perhaps you'll call the Police on your neighbors for too much tinsel!!!

Man up. You were in the wrong, but can't admit it.

He shot off a signal flare because he was lost.

Fire jumped the 15 freeway about 2 miles south of my apartment.  Some fuck head was packing his car, blocking me from my garage so I had to ass out of there on my motorcycle.  Wish my roomate would've been there, would've rocked his car back and forth to break his e-brake.

Since i've been working at the police/fire dispatch center - 3 years now.

County of ~250K.  Not one fire caused by Christmas Trees.  This year alone, 3 houses burned - several fields, and 2 garages.

Last year we had an apartment complex burn down due to fireworks.

I guess shit happens.

From the "San Diego Union"

Sergio Martinez, 34, faces up to five years in prison under a plea agreement reached with prosecutors. Sentencing is set for Aug. 5.
Martinez told U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez that he was completely dehydrated when he set a fire in the Cleveland National Forest, put it out, then set another fire and couldn't put it out.
"It was too late," Martinez told the court.
Martinez pleaded guilty to setting timber afire. A second charge of lying to a federal officer was dismissed.
Martinez later told reporters he hadn't had a good night's sleep since the fire that burned 422 square miles, destroyed more than 2,000 homes, killed 15 people and took more than a month to extinguish.
"I have to do the right thing," Martinez said. "None of this was ever intentional."
Authorities said Martinez intentionally set a fire on Oct. 25, 2003, when he became separated from a friend on the first day of deer hunting season.

Water That Tree!
What's a holiday party or even the traditional Christmas morning scene itself without a beautifully decorated tree? If your household, as those of more than 33 million other American homes, includes a natural tree in its festivities, take to heart the sales person's suggestion --"Keep the tree watered." That's good advice and not just to create a fragrant indoor winter wonderland atmosphere. Christmas trees account for 400 fires annually, resulting in 10 deaths, 80 injuries and more than $15 million in property damage. Typically shorts in electrical lights or open flames from candles, lighters or matches start tree fires. Well-watered trees are not a problem. Dry and neglected trees can be.

Not only did I get called to three or four of those brush fires,  But i actually started one.

I was at my girlfriends house out in the booonies.  Her,myself and her 5yr old brother were in the street.  I gave him a small smokebomb.  You know those little colored smoke balls that last for all of 10 seconds.  he through it in some tall grass which was very very dry.  I told him not to do that anymore as it could start a fire.  Then I feel a tap on the shoulder and my gf is pointing at the direction where he through it.  yep......it was on fire.  I put it out myself no need to call the rest of the guys out . By the way I need newboots.....mine are burnt up now.

Maby in you're part of the world, but we respond to way more fireworks related fires than Christmas Tree related fires. In fact I've never seen a fire that started with/from/by a Christmas Tree but have been on 15-20 fireworks related fires so far this year & we are just starting to dry out.
