| The unit is a Kenmore and it is about a year and a half old. It ran fine all last year and for a month this year. Now when you turn it on the compresor tryes to turn on but won't and the blower will hardly push air. Any idea to what the matter is? |

I'm only an electrician, but to me, it sounds like it's shot, unfortunately.. Unless BOTH motors share a start/run capacitor and IT'S shot, it's very unlikely that both the compressor AND the fan would be having problems at the same time. This COULD be the case of course, but you'd have to get it apart, to know. AND know what you're looking at/for. Maybe if you know any HVAC guys, ask them to take a look at the thing. |
| Took it apart to see if I could see anything ovious. Saw that a cylinder thing was split and had leaked and metaled. Took it out and found out that it is the capacitor. To get a new capacitor is $97. Well. Everything is in the trash now. A new unit is like $100 or so. |
