WTF is this movie?

Is it an anti-gun or a pro-gun movie?

Well it's quite obvious now.

It's about this guy tracking down the killer of his daughter by finding out the owner history of a gun. It originally showed a woman using it to save herself from being raped and murdered, but now they're showing how this gun killed someone every time it changes hands.

Pay close attention to the newspaper headlines he sifts through (if you're not already past that part...).

I just saw that part not 30 seconds ago.

"Woman shoots kidnapper"

"Boy, 17, kills friend and self in school yard"

"Man cleared in accidental shooting death"

Are these all supposed to be with the same gun?

Something astronomically stupid.  Any gun I shot and killed  bad guy with would be a gun I would never sell.  Movie is from the POV of a vet who is investigating the history of a gun that is used to kill his daughter.

I thought ABC had a T.V. show like this a few years ago. There was a pearl handle .45 as the plot and the story was how this one gun got passed around and the lives in "ruined".

I don't remember much about the show, it was very lame and ABC pulled after a few episodes.

Sounds like they took this ABC show and made a movie out of it.

Anyone else remember this ABC Gun show?

It does sound rather familiar...but it could have easily been used for a plotline of that stupid CSI show my parents watch when I'm visiting.

EDIT: Google found a show called Dead Man's Gun.

EDIT2: At bottom of the linked page...

TRIVIA NOTE: A year earlier an anthology series GUN/ABC/1997followed the trail of a pistol as it passed from one owner to another. The first episode starred Daniel Stern as Harvey Hochfelder, a semi-successful actor who foiled a convenience store robbery pulled off with the assistance of the "Gun." The gun in question was a 1911-A officer issued Colt.45 semi-automatic nickel-plated pearl-handled gun. U2's recording of the Beatles' "Happiness Is a Warm Gun" acted as the series theme song.

The show was just called "Gun".

What, did they ignore the idea that guns are very rarely used more than once to kill anyone legally or illegally?

Is this movie on TV?

Artistic license.

I believe it was released theatrically, but I don't remember it - may have been STV/MFC, but it doesn't have that "feel."

20iner:  Have you gotten to the "twist" yet?...

I remember this show.  Didn't last long.  John Ritter starred in an early episode IIRC...
