I just had a new hard drive installed, the other one crapped out on me. Anyway, when I'm scrolling, the screen seems slow, kinda flutters . Whats the trouble here ?

1. Check your video drivers and make sure they are up to date. Usually, you can find the newest versions on your video card manufacturers website. 2. Check your monitor. How old is it? What is the refresh rate that its set at? Is it about to crap out on you? |

well if you don't have the original blue cd's from dell I would try this driver: nvidia driver |
I did find the Video Drivers on the Dell CD. I highlighted above with stars, the ones that are on this disk. Do I just install them ??
|
nooooo! don't install all of them. you only have one video card, only install one of them. |
Install the one that is for YOUR video card( aka the one in your computer right now) But a better idea would be to go the the vid.card manufacturers website and download a newer version of the drivers, since the drivers on your CD are a few years old. |

I have had some success in Windows XP making it search for an updated driver. Right click on "My Computer" and go to "Properties". (or you can go to Start-->Control Panel-->Performance and Maintenance-->System in normal categorical view, or Start-->Control Panel-->System in "classic" control panel view) In System, click on the Hardware tab, then click on Device Manager. In Device Manager, look under "Display Adapters". Click the little black + to expand that tree, and look for the graphics card. Right click on the graphics card and select "Update Driver". Follow the directions in the "Hardware Update" wizard. If it asks you where to search, DE-select your hard drive, floppies, or CD, and SELECT "the internet" or "Microsoft". It isn't perfect, it doesn't ALWAYS work, but it often does. Jim |
| when you ran the cd it should have told you what model it was.. if it says the driver is already installed, go to dells web page insert the service tag you posted and download the newest driver. if that doesn't work if its a nvidia card at least, use my post above and download the driver from nvidias web page |
