I just heard the song "Flat on The Floor" and really like it.  Which CD should I buy?  Is all of their music that good?

My wife really likes them.  Yes, all of their music is that good.

One of the better recent bands.   A sample lyric

-=---------------------------------
I like your pants around your feet
I like the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favourite damn disease

And I love the places that we go
And I love the people that you know
And I love the way you can't say no
Too many long lines in a row
I love the powder on your nose

Ooooh
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

I like the freckles on your chest
And I like the way you like me best
And I like the way you're not impressed,
While you put me to the test
I like the wine stains on your dress

And I love the way you pass the check
And I love the good times that you wreck
And I love your lack of self respect
While you're passed out on the deck
I love my hands around your neck

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

I love your pants around your feet
And I love the dirt that's on your knees
And I like the way you still say please
While you're looking up at me
You're like my favourite damn disease

And I hate the places that we go
And I hate the people that you know
And I hate the way you can't say no
Too many long lines in a row
I hate the powder on your nose

And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out
And now I know who you are
It wasn't that hard
Just to figure you out

They are pretty good. My one complaint about them is (IMHO) that they have ONE sound. After awhile, all the songs begin to sound the same.

I like some of their stuff.
Some of it's not so great.

Pretty much the same as any other band EVER. Sooner or later they put out some songs you don't like. It just happens.

All in all, I like 'em though.

"Flat on the Floor"  is off  The Long Road. "Figured You Out" "Saturday Night's Alright" , "See You at the Show", and "Someday" are also on that disc.

It Rocks...

Which should you buy? None, all of their CD's are garbage and every song sounds exactly the same...I have a vid somewhere on my PC where the lead singer got smacked in the head with a bottle after people at a concert in Portugal booed them off-stage hehe

So in your opinion, nobody should like it because you don't?

Pretty condescending if you ask me.  I'd like to hear what some of your favorites are..  Just out of curiosity.

ETA - What do you expect from Europeans? Maybe they were expecting Boy George and were disappointed?

I'd suggest buying the first disc (Silver side up) first. That's got some good tunes on it. Then pick up the new one... Their sound is very similar but the first one is better IMHO.

They're not the end all be all but they're solid, and I like some of their tunes.

People shouldn't buy it because it's bland, unimaginative, unoriginal, uninspiring crap.

It's the 'rock' equivalent of brittney spears.  Their tough guy / dirty lyrics combination is laughable.

Their songs are simplistic and sophomoric. They could be written in under an hour and forgotten even sooner.

Ever hear the mix of two of their songs played over the top of each other? They sound almost identical. Someone must have the link.

Recently, my most listened to bands are:
My Chemical Romance
Death Cab for Cutie
The Postal Service
Rise Against (yeah, I know, leftist crap, but I skip the protest songs)
Modest Mouse
The Clash

Sorry, I'm not trying to be condescending, it's just that, IMHO, Nickelback has mediocre(if-that) lyrics and every song sounds the same...heck, some of their songs ARE the same.

Here is proof:

Either way, YMMV, and if you like 'em, go get the CDs

Yeah, i agree, it IS easy to slam others tastes, isn't it?
It's just like the cocktail man who turns his nose up at Jack Daniels, and misses the heritage, the flavor, the tradition, the goodness and for what?  I guess being elitist must be really fun.

I like Nickelback a lot.  They're a throwback, in some ways, to some older, simpler rock.  Rock and roll isn't rocket science.  People loved to hate 'The Guess Who' back in the day, as well, because they were too 'catchy', and 'popular'.  Same old crap.

Well, not everyone's Led Zeppelin, now are they?

Nickelback is better than most of the current crop of music out there, all droning on about how crappy their lives are and using the same guitar distortion and everything. Nickelback's more melodic, and it doesn't grate on me like the rest does. I picked the first disc up for "How you remind me" and was pleasently surprised that the rest wasn't crap.

Everyone can like something. After 30 years of saying I'd never listen to it, I've discovered that I even like a little country music. Hey, it happens.

Good stuff by good songwriters and talented musicians.

Most listened to recently:
Reel big fish (ska/rock/punk, some of the catchiest songwriting and entertaining lyrics you'll ever hear. If you're feeling bitter or want to, this is the music that can make you bitter AND happy about it)
Dean martin (the dino compilation, excellent disc)
Garbage (great songwriting, really good at finding a groove - but not 3rd album 1,2, &4 are the ones toget)
Chris cornell - euphoria morning (great songwriter, incredible singer, awesome CD)
Foo fighters - despite grohl being a democrat cheerleader, he's one of the best 'straightforward' rock songwriters to come around in the past 20 years or so.

Then there are the other 'classics' that I pull out now and then because their songwriting and talent is just so good. Alice in chains, van halen, Led Zeppelin, the Who, Queen, plus other thigns like SRV, buddy guy, etc.

And nothing I listen to is even 1/100th as crappy as that bland, pathetic excuse for a rock band called nickelback.

Not the original one I saw that you could adjust the mix but I think it gets the point across well enough.

Formulaic unoriginal crap.
