That's what the guy at Home Depot said. I got some spider killer to treat the area with. I'm spraying the base of my house first, so they don't migrate inside. I'd crap myself if I found this in the house. I can deal with anything but spiders. The only good spider is a dead one. |
Negative. It's a bad actor. Kind of like being bitten by a Brown Recluse! ![]() Try Here: http://hobospider.org/ Here's a sample. The hobo spider is now the leading cause of serious envenomation in the northwestern United States; as such, a suitable common name was needed for reference to it (no common name had been applied in Europe). The choice of a common name for this spider was difficult, and proved a considerable challenge. Many common names were suggested which referred to the color of the spider (northern brown spider, brown house spider, etc.), but these were deemed unsuitable as they were too similar to the term "brown recluse spider"; Other suggested names such as aggressive house spider, killer house spider and terminator spider were obviously more exploitive than scientifically accurate, and were rejected as useable terms. One of these, aggressive house spider , was used in some early publications and received considerable press coverage in the early 1990's, creating a mythology about this arachnid which still emerges occasionally; The aggressive house spider moniker is no longer considered acceptable for use in publications, etc., not only due to its inaccuracy, but because it perverts the spiders' scientific name Tegenaria agrestis, which translates "mat weaver of the field", not "aggressive mat weaver". |

We always called them wolf spiders. Very common house spider in E. Washington and have been bitten alot of times with no bad effects ( Luckly ). They are not an aggressive spider and usually make a run for it when they see you unlike a Recluse which can be a Mean SOB and actually chase you down. I see one occasionally in my house esp the basement which is there favorite haunt. Have to get a pic next time... |

Well, I did get a positive ID. It is definately a Hobo. ID Document |
| I guessed right then , a HoBO spider ? I find wolf spiders in my house all the time and we coexist without any problems. I mainly have writing spiders , wolf spiders , house spiders and the lone black widow sneak in time to time. I hate the spiders that I find in my mail box though because they get into my mags , so when Im there reading them at night one will jump out on me , very annoying lol. Those little jokers look like a member of the wolf spider family but they are black and a little fuzzier , but seting there and have one fall on you while your into a article ,the first thing you think is Black spider= black widow lol |
3 feet? You meant the WEB right? There isnt a spider on earth that gets 3 feet across. |
3 spider's feet? |

What is it with spider threads tonight? www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=358811 Thanks to that thread, I now know that all the spiders I've been seeing in my garage for the last month are freakin' Black Widows. |
I hear ya. I've been so paranoid about finding Brown Recluses in my house, that I just dismissed the Black Widows, because I could tell they weren't Brown Recluses. ![]() I guess I should have remembered that there are TWO species of venemous spiders in Missouri, not one.

I had a friend at work who just got bitten by a hobo spider. He had to take some pretty hefty pills that gave him headaches. The good news is also that he will live. The bad news is that he has a nice scar from the necrosis and the vemon can stay active in a human for up to a year and he at any time may need more meds. |
