That pilates stuff is harder than it looks.

I find it to be relaxing and easy.

A good end to a stressful day.

Get to look at hot ass too. (chicks)

I consider pilates and homosexual orgies to fall in the same category.  I keep as far away as possible.

My wife keeps trying to get me to try it. I told her I will try the minute she shows me where my vagina is.

Wow, it took all the way to the second reply to get a 'homo' comment.  That's a shock.

Seriously, most of the lardasses who would make 'homo' comments couldn't make it through a whole intermediate pilates workout.

Dude, not something you should be asking on ARFCOM let alone admitting to.

"pilates" ???  is that some new ethnic snackie-cake ?

Yeah, except for the fact that unlike 75% of the posters here, I'm not so insecure about my sexuality that I can't talk about a rather effective exercise technique.

Freaking pathetic. People act as tough as hell, but when it comes to something they can't grunt about, out come the 'gay' comments.

I think AR15 needs a special forum called 'the closet' for all the people who have to make themselves feel more masculine by calling things they don't understand 'gay'.

The State of Texas just sent me my new license pilates after 8 years of the old ones....I think it's automatic after that long.  I like the new look.

I run and do other cardio workouts that don't subject me to the femininity of limp-wristed calesthenics.  Boosting pilates is like bragging about your latest Richard Simmonds video tape.

Wow, clever.
Not.

Lighten up Bastiat,
What do you expect by posting something like that on ARFCOM?  I'd like to see the sources of your "percentages" here.

You're being a wee bit touchy about this don't  you think? Maybe it's because....

Seriously though,
I've heard it's hard too, but I don't think it's anything that can't be accomplished by running, calisthenics and weights.  That's what I'm used to doing thanks to Uncle Sugar.  FWIW, Pilates was originally created for dancers.

You know, there is an old saying that I'm sure most of us here are familiar with: "If it's stupid, but it works, then it isn't stupid."

I've never done it myself, but the same question (with the same premptive response) was posed in a recent edition of Men's Health magazine, and the guy who did the short writeup basically got his ass kicked by the program.

Sure, maybe it was developed by dancers, but I'll remind you that dancers are some of the strongest and most nimble people around. Don't believe it? I dare you to try some of their moves without ending up in the hospital.

Besides, not everyone wants to be another Arnold.

Good work out for core strength.

Mix it with cardio, weights, load bearing, and endu

Zaph,
That's why I said "Seriously"...I was joking.  I went to an "arts" school where the only "majors" were music, dance, and drama.  I know how strong dancers are.   They may be drama queens, but if there's anything they're not, it's weak.  It's just that posting a "Pilates" thread here on ARFCOM is practically trolling.

Haven't tried pilates but do yoga for the stretching. It is part of an overall program.

They do some pilates at the end of the workout.  Damn impossible.

Sorry, but I don't see it that way. A paying member asked a simple legitimate question. It seems to me the trolls came from the other side of the aisle.

And no, I don't have a poodle. Nor would I. Poodles are ghey.

That's what I'm doing. On off days from strength training I've been working it in. It also seems to work like stretching exercises by increasing flexibility,so it takes care of two things at once.

Laugh all you want guys.  My sister is a certified instructor in Pilates.  She makes $250 an hour for personal coaching and instructions.  She had a waiting list to get into her studio.  She makes more money doing this then I make being a doctor.  Go figure!

No not really.  She has a lot of actresses and very rich women who come to work out.  Amazing.  Kim Basinger was there.

ETA: She is pretty good looking and in great shape.  Think Jolie without the big ass lips. Her husband makes commercials for a living.  Liv Tyler just made a soap commercial for them.  I guess she has a little head and a big body. LOL.

I took aerobics class for a few years at a local university.  Just me and about 75 hot undergrad girls in each class.  I always stay in the back of the class (but there are mirrors on three of the four walls).

I hate Pilates.  I can lay there all day and not get tired on that thing until gravity sucks all the blood out of my arms.  I will stick to freeweights and running, depending upon my desired resault.
