I moved from the city trying to escape urban sprawl but it seems to follow me. Trees keep falling and strip malls keep popping up. They never seem to have any merchants that are worth a shit.  Dollar General, Petsmart, Goodwill, dumb shit like that. Lowes moved in, then a Super Walmart, thats cool.  But now Home Depot and Target wants a piece of the pie. The funny part is they are right next door to one another. Concrete as far as the eye can see and traffic lights at every intersection. When will it ever end.

Well put.  I as well do not "like it" when I see this happen, but it is the progression of things.  As you said, at one time, my house was not here, either.

They put in a new development just next to my neighborhood. Not only has traffic increased, but the idiots who built it made sure that every road exiting that development was a blind turn onto a road with a 50mph speed limit and a blind curve leading up the development. The people leaving can't see the road until they turn onto it and the people driving on that road can't see the development until they're right on top of it. As a result, a section of road that used to see an average of one fatal accident (and numerous mild ones) every year now sees about five a year.

Not to mention all the flooding in our development and theirs because of the poor sewage system they have and all the rerouting of the creek, building on top of low water crossings, etc.

The homes are pretty spread out, thats not my beef. My problems with strip malls and these big merchant chains popping up every where. They cut trees down and pave their fat ass parking lots. Enough is enough.

Well, if people would stop moving out into the country then the stories would have to keep following them.

They only go where the money goes.

I know what you mean.  I'm starting to hate living in Florida because of all the development. In ten years, the whole I-4 corridor between Tampa and Daytona will be one big fucking city with no break whatsoever.  I wish to hell I could move out of here.

So what you're saying is you don't like people building stuff on their property.  That's why they buy the property in the first place.   If you want to be surrounded by wilderness, then buy the land and don't develop it.

I know, I think we need to get the government involved - maybe a new Bureau or Department specifically created to stop people from doing what they want to on the land that they own.  What do you guys think?

How the hell am I the problem? I was born and raised here. This is one of the biggest states as far as non native transplants go.  Its just busting at the seems. I don't believe I'm the problem.

If the federal government would stop the flow of illegals and you people would stop having kids the development would stop. Pretty simple when you think about it.

Yeah, I hate too much damn development.

And when competitors put up shack RIGHT NEXT DOOR??  WTF??   I've seen the Home Depot / Lowes.... Walmart / Target...  Gas stations... auto parts stores... I mean RIGHT NEXT DOOR to eachother!!   That's just overdevelopment.

But they only build AFTER people "move from the city to escape urban sprawl" - WalMart isn't going to build a store in the middle of nowhere and HOPE people are going to move there.

There are here in FL. They did that in my dads town. Built on a major highway several miles out of town, then just let it come up around them.
