I was reading about the .357sig and .40s&w and the .357Mag and they had this big write up but ended it will the .357s will always out perform the .40s/w every time.  It was more accurate blah , blah but they also said that ballistically it was just the same as the .357m.  One guy I know said to me that he's always like bottle neck ammunition simply cause it was something small coming out at very high velocity.  Now here at ARFCOM, somebody mentioned a round that will take down a aggressive dog. I have seen a .22cal federal hp take down a large size dog and I am wondering was it the projectiles velocity since it had very small mass or was it design since it was hollow points? Seeing video of the .17hmr exploding (as it appears on film) on prarie dogs, I was wondering would you get the same result using less/more rounds and since it was even smaller in mass would you get the same result on something bigger then the prairie dog?
That being said the .40s&w is heavier then the .357s just barely ( I am thinking you only need .043 to go? I don't know ? enlighten me on that.) How is it that they are always been said to be very similar ballistically and how come the .357s is supposed to be more accurate?
How does the .357m and the .357s compare in terms of accuracy or can they even truly be compared since the .357m is normally shot from a revolver and would the revolver vs. auto pistol be a factor?

Thanks.

Quit reading those gun rags and you won’t be so confused!

IIRC, a .357 Sig throws a 125 grain bullet at 1350 fps, a .40 S&W throws a 180 grain bullet at just under 1000 fps.  That’s quite a difference (though there are some lighter .40 bullets with higher speeds).

Despite the fact that the Secret Service and a number of state police agencies have gone to the .357 Sig, I personally think its a pretty worthless round.

Find a reasonably priced .357 mag semi auto and I'll agree 100%.

Otherwise, I think they all suck.

I leash in the form of a big ass chain would be a start for a pit bull if it was mine anyway....
