why is it that i dont get my mail until around 4 on weekdays but on saturday the mail man can make his appearance by 10:30 ...

can some one explain that?

Around here they deliver personal items only, like bills, cards etc. No junk. It takes them less time as they don't always have to go to every house. Even with that though, our mail lady still doesn't get here until late afternoon.

They aren't delivering as high a volume of business mail on Saturdays. At least that's what my
Letter Carrier said.

Retired mailman here: The route can be split up into indiviual one hour delivery's and given to different carriers. Could be that on the weekend someone just decides to deliver yours early and before they start their own route.

Maybe they run the routes different on Saturday due to people being off? Maybe he just has your route to do on Saturday, but on weekdays he has to do two routes (i.e. works less hours on Saturday)? Maybe there's less buisness mail delivered on Saturday, so they have more manpower available to shorten the routes and get done faster? Maybe he just goes backwards on Saturday so he doesn't get bored?
