Someone posted about tinitus the other day.  I thought I would share my tragic story.

My hearing damage was the result of my caring for kids.  I wanted kids to be safe, to grow, and make something of themselves later in life.  To this end I travelled to schools and extra curricular events giving lectures on safety and survival.

Then, one tragic day, Just as I had spoken those "famous last words" it happened.  I had just been telling the kids how to safely use all kinds of survival gear, but warned them "I'm the only one in this room professional enuff to use a Fox Foty!"

Several years of no protection at punk concerts left me with a  decent case. Luckily, my hearing is still good, just a continual undertone.

Of course, then some jackass runs the regulator up to 975 PSI for our rolling compressed air "M" cylinder, and yours truly finds out how a self-coiling nylion hose catastrophically fails when subjected to 7.8 times the recommended working pressure.

While standing next to it.

It flexed the 8' x 4' picture window on the far end of the 60' apparatus bay.

I was picking yellow nylon fragments out of the engine bay for days.

I found it rather ironic, since I've "muffed" religiously while shooting for years...
