How do I erase histories of web sites visited? The computer is running Windows XP. Help Thanks in advance |

I need to do it covert like - she checked the history and went ballistic - I have already cleared the history, but I know there are other traces. This was addressed a while back - can't find it now - Damn! I should have printed that. Seriously though - she is PISSED!!! HELP! |
| A free program called "BC Wipe" has US DoD scrambling. Apparently, when you delete something it isn’t really deleted just marked by the computer as stuff it can write over if need be. So, you need to scramble that deleted stuff so it can’t be recovered. If you scramble the characters 6 times like the DoD allegedly does chances of recover are very slim. I would however, recommend a commercially available product that isn’t freeware. Some people claim BC Wipe caused a hard dive crash. A real crash is, of course, when the needle that read the hard drive crashes into the disk damaging it. A crash is not just when your computer freezes and you press the restart button. BTW I am not engineer(I'm sure that is obvious by my lack of technical detail), but I did make an A in comp sci. |
+1 It must suck knowing you are going to be hen pecked for the rest of your life...of course if you take your balls back it might not be as bad. Some women freak out of their man looking at porn. Just remind her that if she's wearing you out in bed you'll have no energy to look at porn. Sorry but I would say you have screwed yourself into a corner with this one. Even though I program internet applications I'm not going to help you with your question about deleting the traces because I think it is pathetic when men let women walk all over them because of the woman's insecurities. Sorry but I don't tolerate poor behavior from women. You might want to start working on standing up for yourself and having your wife deal with her own insecurities. I'm sure you know very well that even if you delete every single trace she is still going to be pissed at you, randomly bring it up and throw your bad behavior in your face so she can win the next argument, as well as telling all her girl friends about how big a POS you are for looking at porn. Have you ever noticed that when your wife does something wrong she will twist the argument around and ends up being the one mad at you and yelling? Yeah I've been there myself...it sucks. That's why you really need to work on standing up for yourself because that is the only thing that will make a difference. |
This is of course assuming he was looking at "normal" porn. Friend of mine's wife freaked on his ass when she found out he was looking at bizarre fetish stuff (I'm all for a little freaky but when he finally told me what he had looked at "just out of curiosity" I thought he was freakin' weird- think animals and women  ).

Never marry or hook up with a woman who is disturbed by the fact that wank or look at porn. As an alternative, be sure you don't care what she likes in that regard and that you dominate the relationship sufficiently to do as you please. If she is not going to cheerfully get up at 2 AM to put on a little show and/or have some sort of sex with you, she has no business complaining. |
Fucking hardcore... ETA: Oh, and regarding the dilemma; why did/do you not share it with her? Less trouble, more fun. This is the part I never get about guys trying to be sneaky with porn or getting in trouble. Why in the fuck weren't you obvious about it and sharing it with your mate? |

Go with CCleaner, as mentioned above in one of the links.... And it has a setting that lets you tell it not to erase some cookies, so you don't kill your legitimate cookies, like AR15.com, etc.... Also, to save yourself getting a ton of garbage email, go to Internet Explorer TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > PRIVACY tab, and set it to the highest level. |

Open the internet window. Click Tools. Click Internet Options. Click Delete Files, Delete Cookies, and Clear History. Click Okay. Click Start. Scroll to Accessories. Click System Tools. Click Disk Clean-up. Run it. Then do a defrag. Now go buy some flowers and apologize. |

To put all of this to rest - there was a thread that a board member was asking about, seems his boss was rakinging him over the coals at work - she was a female. There was a rumor or someone at work told him the boss lady had posted an "ad" on a site - trolling for someone - she was married. He wanted to get the site or a member who could find the goods on boss lady. The sight was adult friend or adultfinder or something like that. We had gone out Sat night, unfortunately - we'd had a previous disagreement over a family issue, so the air was a bit chilly. We ended up really getting into it just before we got home. I dropped her off to deal with the baby sitter and I left to cool off. I went and had a couple of beers at the pub and watched the end of the Darlington race. Got home an hour later - everyone asleep - I am still wide awake, so I go surfing - read the above mentioned post - go to the site out of boredom and curiosity, look around - strictly curious. Next day she checks to see what I was looking at so early in the AM and flips - not only does the site load all sorts of cookies for other really freaky sites, but she now thinks I am trolling for something/someone else - NOT THE CASE. Tipsy curiosity - period. I ask some guys in the IT section at work on Monday - how to erase all this stuff & started to do it Monday night, and came here to ask for more advice, basically same advice they gave me - those sites load all sorts of cookies etc. So in the interest of trying to basically clean up my mess - I go in and erase the history, delete the cookies, delete the temp internet files so there are no more surprises. Now she thinks I am trying to hide something by erasing everything and that I have been going into all these other sites. Water under the bridge now - I can't find that post, no way of proving what I was looking at, and she has already called a lawyer - WTF?? Thanks for the attempts at help - please just let this die. No comment about lack of balls please - she is a good woman and a wonderful mother - and kept the home front squared away while I was overseas. We have had our ups and downs - there are problems in the marriage, but this is unwarranted. A total misunderstanding and no way to prove it - I looked thus I'm guilty. |
