| what's the value on a Winchester Model 94 in .30-30 and a Ruger Model 96 in .44 mag? Both are unfired and pretty much sat in their boxes after they were bought. |
I bought a new Winchester Model 94 in .30-30 recently... I don't hunt, but I figured, if I had to protect my family, self, etc with a rifle, maybe the PC rifle is the way to go... It's only six shots, but if I need more protection, I have backups |
im no expert but it would seem like a sks would be a much better choice. |
SKS is an excellent weapon, have a SAR-1 in 7.62x39 myself... |
They're not mine, my cousin's future father-in-law gave them to my cousin and told him he could sell them to help him pay for his honeymoon. He asked me what I figured they were worth. MSRP on was listed as 450 for the Winchester and 480 for the Ruger. I told him he could probably get 300 for each if he tried hard. |

I quess if you had said Win 94 pre 64 you might have got a different responce! I bought a win 94 made in 74 for 100.00 out the door! If you are keeping it for a home defence gun just remember that a 30/30 with six is all you need! At 100 yards it has more muzzel energy than a 44 Rem mag at the muzzel! So unless you are shooting hoards of vombies it will do very nicely! A much underated(and overated)round! Bob |

Lever action Winchester 94 - fine deer gun. The 30-30 round had killed MORE DEER than any other caliber. As for home protection I also agree, 6 shots is plenty assuming it isn't a full moon. And for hunting - heck, THREE rounds works just fine for me. One to miss, one to knock it down and one to finish it off (sorry guys, I'm not 'one shot, one kill' Special Ops.) Unfired, these guns would resell for about $200.00 ea. plus or minus. He might just want to keep one of them. FWIW. |
