Haven't been there in years. Do they still want your phone# and address just to buy something?

The hispanic population is the fasted growing segment of the US.

A lot of billboards here in FL are spanish only, and tons of spanish radio and tv stations.

Sigh...

They stopped that around these parts.  Another store I frequent is asking for my zip code.  Being fed up of making up fake ones I just replied back "I don't have a zip code "  in my best FOAD tone of voice

I once asked in a store, when they wanted my phone # at the register, 'if I don't give it, does that mean I can't buy this?'. They were unprepared to answer that question ... but, after recovering from the shock of someone not willing to act sheeple-ish, told me, like it was of crucial importance, that I wouldn't get their special offers if I didn't *gasp*. (Yeah right, like they don't spam me with their ads in the mail and in the Buffalo News every Sunday ANYWAY ...)

When asked for our phone # in stores now, my husband always says 'only if you give me yours', it's especially funny if the cashier is a female ....

Dunno what was up with the Spanish muzak though ... maybe they were celebrating cinco de mayo early ...

I haven't bought anything in a RS in a while, but I also found the name and address thing annoying.  Finally, when asked "name?" I would lean in and in a slightly raised voice, say "CASH". This would stop anymore questions.
