A buddy and I have been betting $5 a race on all divisions of nascar racing. Each of us pick three cars each race, and the highest placing car of the six is the winner. We are currently at odds on the Nashville Busch race. Each of us want to pick Edwards first, but we can't decide who gets the first pick. How can we decide on who gets first pick when we are across town from each other and talking on the phone? I told him I would flip a coin, and even let him call it. He wouldn't go for that though. |

Rock, paper, scissors. I offered to go grab a few staws from the broom, and even told told him that he could tell me which one to pull for him. No dice. What about a way to use our computers? Email, or a web page somewhere, or what. He is currently down $10, so he is being hard to deal with on this pick. |

He came up with a last minute idea that worked this time. He told me to send him an email with either the number 21 or 12 in the body of the mail. I made him slam his front door to where I could hear it over the phone, so I would know that he wasn't sitting in front of his computer. As soon as I sent the email with the number 12 in the body, I told him to guess which it was that I sent. He guessed 21, then went in and checked his mail to find that I had sent 12 instead of 21. Worked this time, but there is still room for cheating using this method. I got Edwards this race, but you never know how they will turn out. Guess we'll have to play a quick game of online checkers next week before picking our cars. Still looking for a better method.... ETA: He'll probably want to be red if we play checkers.
