Let's say I have a folder full of 1000 MP3s of varying quality.  How can I sort them using Windows Explorer (or any other tool) in order of bitrate?

You can sort according to bitrate using Windows Media Player (that I know of).

You need a program like iTunes or MusicMatch Jukebox to manage/play them.

In Windows Explorer, make sure the view is set to "details" and at the top of the columns where it says name, size, type, artist, etc... right click and check bit rate. HTH
