... for long periods of time bother your eyes? Mine seem to get all gooey feeling... almost like the feeling of contacts when you are in a smokey bar drinking a lot. And in the morning I'm usually a little blurry and have a small glob of something in there sometimes. I was kind of thinking it might be more from LCD monitors than CRT.. I don't remember my eyes feeling like this before getting a an LCD and a laptop. |

Change the refresh rate to 75hz. it's easier on your eyes. also any bright(white) background images will hurt your eyes as well...kinda like staring at a lightbulb. also a tidbit of advice as far as eyedrops go(specifically "clear eyes"). You can grow a dependency on the stuff and if you use it so often eventually your tearducts won't produce enough moisture for your eyes. A friend of mine had to undergo surgery where they put metal wire about 3 or 4 inches long into each tearduct. No beuno. |

I keep the resolution high so that the letters are very small. It forces me to focus for a long time on things that my slightly nearsighted vision doesn't see easily. I have noticed that over the past several years, my vision stopped getting worse since I ditched glasses, and now I am seeing almost 20/20 in my good eye. I'd say that it all depends on how you sit at the screen. |

LCD panels are much easier on the eyes, actually. They don't flicker like a CRT, and they don't emit harmful radiation like a CRT. Your eyes hurt for one or more of the following reasons: - You don't blink very often, which dries out your eyes. - You are staring at a fixed distance for too long. - There is excessive glare on your screen from other light sources in the room. - Your CRT isn't at the best refresh rate (not an issue for LCDs). The most important thing is to take regular breaks where you can focus your eyes at varying distances, and that you reduce glare. -Troy |
