I wish I had a trout pond close.  There is a stocked pond/stream where my parents live in NC where I'll cast a fly sometimes when I go visit them.

I fly fish so: Fish Creek, Kootnai Creek, Clark Fork River (Kelly and Jacobs Islands can be good), Missouri River (from a drift boat), sections of the Bitterroot River, Rattlesnake Creek if I could - damn hippies, and so many more.

Basically if I have my fly-rod and some time I'll fish wherever the water looks decent. I prefer creeks to riverst though. The fish that I catch aren't nearly as big but I catch a hell of a lot more of them, I'm releasing anyway so doesn't matter to me. I'm just out there for some fun.

I'll wet a fly in one of several favorite spots here in the Arkansas River headwaters area.  There's about 120 miles of stream with public access on most of it between Leadville and Canon City.  Some of the best fishing in the state right here.

Also will join friends on the Gunnison several times a year, too.

These are certainly two of my big reasons for being in the Rockies.

Yeah but when you are already out in Augusta Highland county then you fish there unless it is bad and then you go over to the other side

I used to fish the Bitterroot around travelers village wehen I lived in Conner MT. I lived off of trout out of the Payette river in Mcall ID.

Now I'm stuck in KY and the nearest trout is 100+ miles down the road.

Never was much of a fly fisherman, but I throw a mean panther martin.

Lost Park near South Park, almost none of the Rainbows are above 12", but we hike in, fry them up with lard for lunch and then hike out.

Cusk spawn in late winter.  They travel from deeper parts of lakes into water between 10-40 feet deep.  You can put six ice-fishing lines out that are baited with fish.  They're left overnight.  Cusk are the only freshwater species of cod.  The meat is tastier and make a great chowder or baked.  It is a little soft for frying but if you're careful then you can eat them that way as well.  They look like this:

Common Name: CUSK

Other Names: BURBOT, LAWYER FISH (Great Lake states), FRESHWATER COD

Scientific Name: Lota lota

Origin: Native

Adult Size: Sexual maturity is usually attained during the third or fourth year.  Males often mature at a smaller size than females.  Aged (otoliths) Maine cusk average 18 inches and 24 ounces in their eight year of growth, 20 inches and 32 ounces in their tenth year, and 24 inches and 62 ounces in their thirteenth year.  The largest angler-caught cusk recorded in Maine was 18 pounds 8 ounces.

Identification:  Cusk have an elongated body with a broad, flattened triangular head.  The mouth is large and wide.  A single chin barbel adorns the lower jaw.  Scales are small and embedded giving burbot the appearance of being slimy.  The anal and dorsal fins run nearly half the length of the body.  In Maine, coloration ranges from a tan to dark brown background overlaid with dark brown to black mottling or spots.  Some may be uniformly dark brown or black.
