I try to make mine from scratch.

Xtra virgin olive oil in the dough made with unbleached flour and 1/5 whole wheat flour and a dusting of corn flour, some water and yeast.

Real whole milk mozzarella chese
Good italian deli meats
Real portabella or shittake mushrooms
Fresh sliced orange, yellow and red bell peppers
Lotza fresh crushed garlic
Finely chopped vidalia onion
Fresh crushed roma tomatoes

Follow it up with a nice Valpoliccela or mild Merlot.

Takes about an hour to prep, another to cook in a gas oven with a cast-iron skillet for that deep-dish perfection.

Any time. Just not all the time.  I used to make my pizzas from scratch only for special occasions, until I moved down here and discovered they absolutely, positively, do not know how to make a decent pizza pie.

ETA: Oh yeah, forgot to mention - my brother is a CIA veteran (Culinary Institute of America ) and a master pastry chef. I have watched him make crusts out of 10 sticks of butter and no flour, but I cannot reproduce it if I tried. They still taste good!

When I moved to Brazil and was first adjusting to the food, they made me pizza as a treat, since all gringas like pizza.  I looked forward to it for a week... and that night it was presented to me... covered in SARDINES!!!!!   I STILL want to cry when I think of it...

Oh man....cant get the good stuff anymore...when I was in north Jersey I sure couldnt carry a gun, but damn the pizza was good.

Some favorites...

Pepperoni and mushrooms
Sausage and extra cheese
Meatballs, garlic, and bacon

And some exotic favorites...

Clams and garlic
Pesto sauce, ricotta, and garlic on a white pie


Give me thin crust, give me deep dish, sicillian....extra cheese.....damn I miss good pizza.
(but they do make a heel of a cheesesteak down here)

Surprisingly, the new Pizza Hut Tripple Pepperoni is very good.

Here is a specialty pizza shop we have that makes a damn big pizza.  
I think it is $35, if I remember right. (I ordered one a copuple years ago)
They are actually pretty good.
Here are some pics, by a local radio personality that does a show called "The Big Bass Brothers".
They do a restaurant review every Friday.  Five Bellies means it is good.
