It's been awhile since I played Internet Columbo but bear with me. The slide is not specifically marked 226R and there is no overall difference between this allegedly new pistol and the 226s of yesteryear. There are no raised sights to accomodate a suppressor and that threaded barrel just looks off. The sizing doesn't seem quite right. Just because it is from the Sig website doesn't mean the picture is real. Most likely, there is no available photo of the prototype so they used the "artist's rendition". I don't believe everything on the Internet.

Add a threaded barrel, and you got it. SIG 220 w/ Rail & M3................ Classic Full Size March 05 Limited Edition - P220R |
I was just looking at that! thanks for the link |
Again, I don't understand why a match gun is overpriced at $2500?? Compared to what? The only cheaper gun of its class I know of is the CZ75 IPSC. Look at Ed Brown's match pistols - well over $3000. This gun is for limted class shooting, not range day for Bubba. $2500 is a good price if it shoots as well as the P210 (which is the same $$, btw). That's MSRP, too. It might only sell for $2000 or so street price. It may not be all that it's advertised to be, but knowing Sigs I'd guess it's worth $2500.00 for a competition shooter. |

I shot a P220 for years in USPSA so I have a little knowlege about Sigs. The race 220 is way over priced for the return. Great $1100.00 to 1700.00 pistol If I was spending 2500.00 on a race gun. Custom built by a winning pistol smith. |
+1 on the over priced. I'm a HUGE Sig fan and there's no way in hell I'd spend that much. I'd rather have a customized EL 220 Presently I'm reshaping it's frame at the triggerguard and beavertail to fit lower in my hand and making my own shorter than a SIG short trigger for it (from a regular 220 trigger). And in a few weeks after I learn where to do it I'll be experimenting on the trigger bar to shorten the reset, I have an extra trigger bar incase I screw it up. (I do 'regular' trigger jobs on SIGs and Berettas) Last week I dryfired a fellow IDPA shooters 226ST that Bruce Gray worked on and he got the reset so that it's practically identical to a 1911! It was incredible!

I've handled the GSR's on occasion, rented one at a local range when it was brand new. I'm not impressed, especially with the blocky SIG style slide. I'd much rather go for a Springfield Loaded model. Mostly fit and finish type deals. Granted, I may have gotten one of the earlier production runs where they hadn't worked out all the kinks. |
From Here "Magazine capacity: 10 rounds" I would love for that to be a bit higher. |
Diffrent strokes for diffrent folks. I don't trust MIM/cast parts in a 1911 and I don't like forward serrations either. That being said the Springfield Loadeds seem to be fine for the money, they just weren't what I was looking for. |
I like the looks of it...but I wonder how much it's going to cost. I'm in the market for a .22 pistol strictly for plinking, was considering a P22, might have to take a look at this. Can't say I'm thrilled about the slide-mounted safety though. Come on, it's a SIG, WTF? |
Dunno the MSRP.. I walked out with the new P226 stainless w/rails and night sights for $870 with tax and $25 background check/CA registration. |
I've been carrying a P229R and a P220R for a year and a half now. Not all stainless, though, but no complaints here. Okay, one minor one. I worked plaincolthes for the first six months I carried the P229R, and with the trusty cheapo belt slide holster I was using (and still use) the rails wear holes in my jeans. No problem with that for duty carry in a 6280 though. My biggest complaint isn't with SIG though, its with Safriland. When are they going to release the stinking 6280/6004 (probably the best duty/tactical holster setup going) with attached lights (X200 in particular) for the P229R? I've been waiting almost two years now! Now a factory threaded barrel P220R set up for a suppressor... |
AMen. My one gripe about these. The alloy frame is light, but they get banged up something fierce if you use them for duty, and while a blueing touch-up pen works great for the slide, the frame just looks beat up (especially if you ever lose it going over a fence, or some FBI SWAT person ever kicks it across a concrete floor during joint training). |
