How about we abolish the income tax and make everyone pay a Consumption tax? It would encourage people to save money and invest in our country. |
I think it is a good idea in concept. But it would totally change our system. There would be no more "deductions". People who never thought about the money taken from their check might think twice before buying something if it was going to cost alot more. It would be good because multi-billionaire a-holes would be charged for their spending as opposed to their earnings which most of they are able to loophole their way around. It would also tax foreigners in our country. It would also save millions of funding for the IRS. But I think we're too engrained in our current system to switch. The same with privatization of Social Security. It's a good idea but...

I'm ALL for it. No deductions, no nothing but a flat percentage on everything we buy. You want, you pay....don't want, keep your money. Do away with the IRS, accountants, tax lawyers...screw 'em all. The question is: What percentage would be sufficient to sustain our level of national and local services? HH |
Government employees out of work? Oh no. Government doesn't produce a product... only obstacles. Let the IRS agents and others find new work. They can find a job where they can actually be productive rather than confiscating others' wealth and redistributing it to the people whose votes they need. They are taking your money whether they are on salary or on the welfare rolls. They are more dangerous when they are salaried. |

In true ARFCOM style we will have BOTH a consumption AND a wage tax. In fact, we are well underway toward toward that goal. Look at gasoline, 24% of what you pay is tax. Or $125 to $200 of the price of that new rifle sitting in your safe. Lets not forget our sin taxes, booze and smokes. And the idiot tax, state run lotteries. Even when they start taxing everything else, you will still be paying income taxes deducted from your check. |
| It would put an army of lawyers and accountants temporarily out of work, but in the long run they'd become productive citizens rather than parasites. But I think that we will end up with BOTH an income tax and a consumption tax. Nothing ever comes back from the black hole of government. |
