A neighbor has this rifle and would like some info on it. Can anyone shed some light?

It is single shot falling block(?) and the barrel measures approx. .45 dia.
It is 49ish inches long with a 32.5" barrel.

Thanks!

It's a Martini.

Martini.

Common, once upon a time.

Really neat guns. Some folks convert 'em to more modern calibers, including .223, depending on the action size.

Collector value is variable, from none to lots.

Looks like a Martini, Boxer-Henry short chamber .45cal rifle.  Think "Zulu"

Its a Peabody-Martini, might be the predecessor to the Martini-Henry, or a contemporary. looks extremely similar to a Martini-Henry.
