I updated Firefox tonight .  After doing so it will not open a clicked link in a tabbed window, but will open the clicked link in a new web browser window.  I checked Tools>Options>Tabbed Browsing and have "new tab in most recent window" checked.  I prefer the browser to open the new link in the same window but a new tab.  Any ideas on a fix?

Might be as simple as quitting and then relaunching Firefox.  If that fails, delete your preferences and your profile for Firefox.  If that fails, uninstall Firefox and delete everything associated with Firefox.  One of those should do it.

Install the exension called  Tabbed Browsing Prefrences.  It never opens a new window, just opens a new tab instead,  so you in effect have only 1 firefox window.   Props to Gloftoe for telling me about it.

If he had tabbed browsing before, that shouldn't be it.  But give it a shot.  I think it's a preference issue, but I'm not sitting at his computer.

ETA:  If I'm understanding his issue correctly...

No problem.  Your profile in Firefox must have gotten messed up during when you installed the latest version.
