This is a show on Discovery Times channel right now about what would have happened if we had not dropped the nukes on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.  It will be on again at 1400 and 1700.

Those of you who whine about the nukes being dropped on those cities and use it to call the US terrorists who are no better than what we are dealing with now, should watch this show.  Maybe, just maybe, some reality might get through to you and you will realize the terrible toll in both Allied and Japanese lives had the decision not been made.  This show goes into great detail about everything that most likely would have happened, including the possiblity of mutiny by the troops who had fought in the European theaters and were being prepared to ship to the Pacific.

It might do some good, but some of you have been indocrinated so thoroughly by the leftists it probably won't.

So many cities in the middle east, so little time.

Now, now, your blood lust is showing.

I get the feeling that most of the people who object to the nuclear bombings would feel very differently if they were on a landing craft heading for Honshu in 1945.

I don't think we need to engage in that kind of wholesale annihilation of cities today, though.

First, I am not so sure that we don't need to engage in that.  Maybe not yet, but it could become necessary.

Second, I am referring to those who whine about it having been done back then.  I am not comparing it to our present situation.

Frankly, I'm not opposed to the dropping of the bombs on Japan at the time, but this all seems like a pretty weak argument to stand on.
The basic premise is "what might have happened." You could argue what if's forever and still not get anywhere. Pretty much what Bush is dealing with now. What might have happened if we didn't invade Iraq? Hell, I don't know, any number of things could have happened. Doesn't necessarily mean they WILL happen.

I don't think that anyone opposed to the bombs is going to have their opinion swayed by any of this.

Watch the show.  It is more than "might have".  Not a weak argument at all.  It was a lot more definitive than anything currently happening or not happening.

Unfortunately, I can't watch it. Don't have cable and don't really want it.
I find life a lot more appealing since I stopped watching TV, but that's just me.
