I have a 10/22 that had some finish rubbed off the reciever. How can I touch it up? I was looking at some cold blue at Walmart, but it said it only sticks to steel. For some reason I'm under the impression that the 10/22 receiver is aluminum. Am I wrong? If not, what would work?

I thought you wanted to know how to take care of a personal matter with a Finlander

It messed me up too - I think because it was capitalized.

No do not try to re-blue aluminum. The salts will eat it. To touch it up get a testors paint pen in black and mark over the areas.

There is a product specifically for aluminum.  I have used it on an AR that had some beauty marks on the receiver.   I bought it at a local gun shop.   Im sure someone will chime in with the name of it.  If not I will find it and let you know.

ETA   The product I have is for touching up black anodized aluminum.   It is made by Birchwood Casey and is labeled Aluminun Black.   It is on Brownells website.   Hope that helps.
