..if you pluck it first?

And can you then un-pluck it (re-pluck it?) or do the feathers grow back?

That all depends on the muzzle velocity when it gets fired from the cannon...

Most flying chickens hit the canopy of a figher jet within a few milliseconds of being launched from the canon, IIRC.  So I'd guess maybe 30 feet.  There's not much left to re-pluck, though.

Depends how much powder you pack under it when you launch it from this

Domestic farm raised turkeys do not fly.

However wild turkeys can fly just fine, thank you.

Can you use an air cannon?

When I was an undergrad my roomates brother was in Aerospace Engineering. We got drunk one Friday night and went to visit his brother at the enginnering school. He was helping some prof with some experiments.

Seems this profeesor was invloved in trying to develope better windshields for aircraft. So Bulls (roomates brother) job consisted of loading defrosted frozen whole chickens into a speically designed air cannon and launching them at large pieces of plexiglass.

This cannon launched these chickens at speeds in excess of 150 mph. The chickens had to be thawed or else they would go right through the plexiglass.

Kirk (roomate) and I were pretty hammered and just to mess with Bull, while he was away in the can, we loaded a frozen chicken in the cannon. The hole in the plexiglass was exactly the same size as the chicken.

For a while they thought they had a real problem. Until we fessed up to Bull and told him we had loaded a frozen chicken. He was sure pissed at us. It took a few weeks before he would go on a beer run for us. Luckily he covered for us, and himself since he shouldn't have let us in, and told them that one fo the chickens had felt a little hard and must have still been frozen.

So how far will a chicken fly? Until it hits the windshield and splatters.

Hell if I know!

When I was growing up we just chopped their heads off with an axe.

It never occurred to us to throw at our window afterwards.
