I was watching an interview with Tom Selleck about “Magnum, PI.” He was saying that the producers wanted to downplay the Vietnam Vet backgrounds of Tom, TC, and Rick, but he argued with them that it was a major part of who these characters were. He said that VN Vets were being portrayed as drug-crazed psychotics and social misfits, and that they deserved better. He fought for it and won. Thus came to television a positive image of Vietnam Veterans. Another thumbs-up for Mr. Selleck! |
