I'm suprised how much gunshows get slammed at arfcom! Yea, the prices are sometimes steep, but I've found them a great way for my kids to become familar with all different kinds of guns. Everytime there's a show they beg me to take them and even though its the same items I've seen a million times, we always make the journey. I do this in part to support the gun culture. It would stink if attendence became so low that they cancelled them all together. I smile everytime I pass by the Delta Plex parking lot during gunshow weekend, because its always packed. It shows the local community the strength and numbers of its gun owning citizens. I always buy overpriced merchandise just to support the "traveling circus" Anyway... |

I don't know how other shows are, but our local ones tend to be good. Decent selection, and good prices. Ammo prices are better than anywhere else, and selection is awesome. The internet vendors are usually there, and there's no shipping cost for that $80 case of wolf. Sure you can find some old 'feller' selling some POS at an outrageous price, but caveat emptor. Perhaps we are in an unusual situation. |

I'm going to one at the old IMA arena in Flint this weekend. I was just at the one in Birch Run last weekend and bought all the parts for my AR-15 build. I even went to the Davison show a couple of weeks ago. Gun shows are a good thing IMHO. If I need a receiver and my local shop doesn't have it, I can get around paying the FFL transfer fees by buying from a show. I can buy ammo cheaper than I would localy, and you see a lot of old miltary relics you don't see anywheres else. I don't see what the big deal is. Kris |

I can't believe how much our local shows suck. I went to one a couple of weeks ago where not one single vendor had bulk 7.62x39 ammo. That's pretty pathetic. You can be sure they had plenty of AirSoft crap, though... I'm going to one tomorrow, and if it blows as mightily as the last one did, I may just forget local shows completely and start driving to better ones in VA and NC. |
