I'm looking at getting a Kimber Tactical in 4".  Any of you guys have experience with these?

Also, when inserting a mag into a 1911, do you always have to hold down the mag release, or will it eventually loosen up?

No.  That mag catch needs a little work.

Push the mag in and it will slide past the catch.
It leaves a nice were line down blued mags but the stainless ones don't seem to be effected.

Ahhhhh, I see.  I was afraid of breaking something so I didn't force it.

So no one has ever dealt with one of these guns?

You'd have probably been better off posting this in the handgun forum or 1911 forum.

I got a Kimber Pro tactical for Christmas. Put about 100 rounds thru it as of now. ( to damn cold to go out much)
As of now, I love it, feeds well, accuracy is good. Plan to shoot it more this weekend. We'll see after that.

as with any 1911 run a couple hundred rounds through it to break it in.

The mag catch should offer some resistance but not much. if it is hard to seat the mag it has a problem.
