I have one of these that I carry right now (my old man got it for me in France) because I want a long blade knife. Its a Laguiole 12 cm folder with 12C27 steel blade and stag handle. I really don't like carrying it around and would like to get an everyday carry folder with a blade of equivalent or slightly longer length, say 6" max, more like 5" to 5 1/2". Any suggestions? CW |

I have to partially agree with the suggestion given by Deimos. The only reason I say partially is because you could actually choose another knife by Camillus that would be similar. The one he has shown is their Cuda Stilletto. Another one very similar is the Cuda Maxx with a 5 1/2" blade. Take a look at both of them here. Based on the Laguiole you're used to carrying, I would think that either of the Cuda's would be a good choice to transition into. Hard to tell if they're tactical dress knives, or dressy tactical knives. Great looking, well made, and plenty of cutting surface for anyone who like a bigger than average folder. I'd be interested to hear what you end up with, as I'm sure there are some other choices out there. However, as was already mentioned, your price range will make a difference. |

Sorry guys, forgot the price range. <$100 would be nice, although I could go as high as $200 for the right (for me) knife. I'm looking for a daily use knife, use for me being cutting packages open, slicing meat and cheese, trimming things that can be cut with a knife (wood, plastic, that sort of thing), cutting cardboard boxes up for recycle, cutting rope/twine/string and the occasional wire trimming. It would also give me a small peace of mind as I don't have a CCW in Los Angeles. Bottom line, nothing collectable, but functional and not butt ugly. Thanks, CW |
I rarely begin a Sturday of houshold chores that I don't carry mine with all day. They're an excellent deal for the money, and can really take a lt of abuse. I actually removed a lot of dried up gunk froma florr, after the carpeting was taken off. I used the folder as a quasi-chisel. I used it for hours, then the following week took it to a gunshow for sharpening. I wouldn't treat (or sharpen) my Sebenza's or Mission MPF like that, but this Gunsite folder is a workhorse that begs for abuse, and for what it's replacement cost would be, I use it up! And yeah, it's big enough, too. |
