I have been to all the other forums on this so you do not need to tell me where to go! I just would like to get an idea of how many people on this forum shoot this gun and what they think of it. Hakim |

Well, I've never shot the 97B...I have a 40B, and I've shot several of their 9mm models...75 and 85. CZs are very well made firearms, and I don't think I've ever heard anyone who owns one say bad stuff about them. I've played with the 97B at gunshows, and came very close to buying one on several occasions. I'll be buying a .45 at some point this year, and the 97B is definitley on the short list of ones I'm considering. Here's a review by Kim du Toit, fwiw: www.kimdutoit.com/dr/weblog.php?id=P2936 |

Mine is dependable and a fine shooter. The only complaint I have is its rather large grip, which I wish were a bit smaller. I have heard of some people having reduction work performed on the grip, but, as it is just at the limit of my tolerance, I have not done anything about it. Magazines are high quality, and are not made by CZ; they are Mec-Gar manufactured (a company making fine magazines for a variety of firearms). The forward dust cover is a blessing for those interested in target shooting because it adds weight to the front end and reduces muzzle flip. The barrel bushing is a bit odd, but works well and without special tools. But, it is a beast and is not a carry pistol for most. It is large, heavy (about 41 oz., unloaded), and holsters are not exactly abundant. Still, I’m not selling mine; CZ makes very fine firearms for relatively little money. Finally, as I’ve pointed out before at the CZ board, you can replace the factory magazine brake with a factory “drop-free” brake (available from CZ USA) that will allow for drop-free performance for 75s, 85s, and the 97B. |
Wow. Didn't know that. I removed my non-drop-free spring from my CZ75, but it would be nice to have the proper replacement part. -Troy |
