Ok, my library has Half life 2. I installed it, and they dont have the CD Key with the darn thing!!!  If they did have the key, would it even matter?  Isnt it like- if someone registers the key, and someone tried registering the same key, it wouldnt work.  They would need to swap out Steam accounts?

Not sure what you're saying?

You're CD key is tied to the Steam Account. You can log on to any computer in the world with internet access, and download and play any of the games in your account. You can not register the same CD key twice. Once it's been registered, it is tied to that account forever.

If you look around you might can find a key generator/crack.

When you play it the AI will turn itsself off if its a cracked version though

Enable it again by going to the command prompt and typing AI_disable 0

...And if Valve catches that, which, they have caught I believe somewhere along 40,000+ people, your account will be locked. ANY trace of illegal cracks/copies of the game and Valve WILL lock it. Keep that in mind if you do so.

Find a buddy that has it and hasn't registered it online. Someone that plays at home on their computer and doesn't do it online.
Strange I know, but it does happen.

WTF would a library have computer games that have to be registered?

I didn't even know libraries carried video games.  Guess it has been a long time since I visited one.

Yeah, my library carries the game (I have it right next to me) but it doesnt have the fricken Key!!!  Now, if I understand correctly, I NEED the key to play, right?

In order to play half life 2, I need to also have internet access as well, to unlock game.  Am I correct?

There's no way your going to pull that off with this steam system.

You need a unique key to connect to steam and download the rest of the single player game or you'll need a unique key to play it online.

Unless you have a fully hacked downloaded full version, there's no way to play HL2.

Won't work with HL2, it must be registered/setup with a steam account to work at all.

The first person to check it out got $80 worth of love. Everyone else - no point.
