I was wondering if anyone has received or seen any new production guns or mags from Calico now that they have opened up shop again after the ban?

They have a website up now www.calicolightweaponsystems.com

I got their catelog.  They run for about $600 for .22 and about $800 for 9mm.

Man I wish those were better guns.

I would be hard pressed not to make the blaster noise everytime I fired it.

I would really love for them to produce their carbines in other calibers then 9mm, how about a .223 carbine.

Their magazine design works better with shorter rounds.  I guess we can dream, though.

10mm?

.45?

Even a .40?

Hell, how many .32 ACPs could they get into one of those big mags?

Yup, they were kind enough to send me a price list. I just can't apy that much for a 9mm carbine. A 9mm AR would be cheaper.

I have not heard anything bad about those guns.

I think a 357 SIG would be a hot little carbine

will have to see if I can find that thread on the AR 357 SIG someone here has

They had drawings for a .223 and a 12 guage.

12 guage That would make for an interesting shotty.  Wonder how many it would hold?

I would THINK that the helical feed drum would work better with short rounds, but that does not mean .223 is impossible.

A points forward helical feed magazine is (or was) used in the GPU-5A gun pod for the 4 barrel GAU-13 version of the 30x173 Avenger Gatling.  Calico based their small arms magazines on scaled down versions of such autocannon magazines.

800 does seem a little pricey for the 9mm carbine, but I would much rather have that then a Berreta Storm I think. Really Calico was doing things in the 80s that FN copied with the P90, overhead magazines, downward ejection, fully ambidextrous controls.

I'd buy one if it were in .30 carbine.

Well, if anyone wants to license (or patent-bust) their patent, their magazine is 5,335,579 and could be in force (if they've continued to pay their extension fees) until April 12, 2013.

I'd go with licensing, but then again, I like 'em and feel rather sympathetic -- they lost ten years to that damn ban.

I have two (a rifle and pistol, both .22LR) and they work mostly well;  the only issue is having to crank the spring winder a couple of times after firing about two-thirds of the magazine, otherwise the spring begins to lose too much tension and causes jams.  Maybe if I cranked them tighter to begin with, they'd do better, but I don't want to overstress the springs.

ETA:  Hmm, I wonder if there is any way for them to get an extension on the grounds their product was restricted for half the period?

Just get a Beta C-Mag for your .223
Though it's a novelty mag it does hold 100 Rounds

I'm not terribly taken with them, but OTOH if you registered one as an SBR, cut the barrel back to the front of the handguard, and put a supressor like a Gemtech Vortex-9 or AAC Phantom on the end it might make a really nice, quiet, compact and high capacity 9mm or .22.

You do know they're not after our flesh specifically; it's just that we're the only people preparing for their arrival.

They would be awesome if new Class 3s were available. The .22 does look interesting though.

I still want a Calico Liberity (9mm carbine) with 100RD mag.
Looks like I can get it.  Hopefully before some liberal psyco decides 100 rds is too much.

I wonder if you could fit a stock on a 9mm pistol if you SBR'd it.

All Calico 9mm firearms are modular, so if you were so inclined you could either SBR or AOW an M-950 and put a stock and/or a foregrip on it.
