threaten a ban on something that is legal now on items like guns and ammo...

MORE GUNS END UP SOLD AND IN THE HANDS OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAN IF NO BAN WAS THREATENED...

don't they (anti-gunners) know this?

Nope.....Cali sold a HUGE number of Ar15 type  rifles back in 2000....and many didn't get registered under SB23.

I've not put any thought into a 50 cal gun, but now I WANT one...why is this?   is it knowing that maybe one day I won't be able to buy it... I don't really NEED it, but WANT it now.... WTF?

If they're the tree hugging type, possibly their choice of breakfast cereal, but I wouldn't trust them to even be capable of that.

They could care less.  Think of it this way:  If you sold 100 of X style firearms each year and brought about a ban on the X style weapons you may have a result of selling 1,000 X styles.  That's 10 year's worth.  What happens after that?  They've accomplished their goal from year 11 on.

So why do we complain?

Hell, if it werent' for the Bans, I might not even be a gun owner right now.

no one is "complaining"...just observing the human nature of it...
you know... the thinking that we need to have it all of a sudden when we get notice it might not be available...
I really don't need or want a 50cal BMG or a 5.7 Fn pistol.... but now... I got this desire to have one...because I CAN ....

Obviously you've never shot a .50 BMG--if you had you would understand you do, indeed, NEED and WANT one--or several.

let me rephrase myself...

I've never wanted a 50cal BMG because they were always the big kids toy... a bit out of my price range....even back 12 years ago when I fisrt seen a Barret Semi-auto 82 series at a gun show.... I was drawn to it like a magnet....but the price tage was the kicker.... kinda turned me off to the "high end" models.....

Just over two grand, man--just over two grand.  Trust me, you can have LOTS of fun shooting a single shot.  The M82 wins hands-down for "cool"--but they are not the best shooters--crappy trigger, more recoil than most SS's, and minute-of-vehicle accuracy.

There is NOTHING like shooting a .50 cal--nothing.  It's better than sex with a busty woman.
