Two, both by police officers. And I think one of the guns used was stolen from the department armory.

One was Edward Lutes, an LEO in New Jersey, using a department issued MP5.  Do a little digging and I'm sure it'll turn up. It was a murder-suicide if I recall correctly.

Edited: last link describes the gun

The other was a cop using a MAC, either a 10 or 11, to kill a witness or something.

Not that it means much, but the history channel showed a statistic that said, "Since the NFA of 1934, one automatic weapon has been used to commit a murder, and that murder was committed by a police officer".  My liberal friend was in the room when that came on, and was totally shocked.  He still doesn't believe it, even though he saw the same quote on the FBI and BATFE websites.  Even one of the anti-gun groups have the stat on their site.

I appreciate the help.

I'm actually more interested in suppressors, I am going to start pushing hard (I run a newspaper) for legalizing suppressors in IL.  Any data on those?  I'm sure the stats are similar, but need to make sure before I shoot my mouth off.

Never heard of a legally owned suppressor being used in a crime. You'd have to be caught with it to be sure since you could always take it off later and say you never used it. You could also state the health benefits of a suppressor as in saving your hearing. I work around aircraft and I don't want to lose my hearing anymore.
