BONELESS BABY MIRACLE TOT LIVES IN A BUCKET !

By VICKIE YORK

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Little Tara Jurtens is the world's most amazing baby. She was born without a single bone in her body, yet she's the picture of health!

Tiny 6-month-old Tara is a happy, affectionate tot who "loves to giggle, get bear hugs and listen to Barney songs," her delighted parents say.

"Tara is twice as cuddly as any baby you've ever held in your arms - she feels like a soft rag doll," says her mother Randi, 26. "Also, because she has no bones, she's light as a feather, which makes it real easy to carry her around."

According to her parents, the amazing boneless baby can also:

Slither down a flight of stairs just like a Slinky.
Wiggle between the bars in her crib - a span of just four inches.
Squeeze easily into a plastic bucket, a convenience that keeps her safe from danger while unattended and gives her mom a quck-and-easy way to cart her around.
Roll herself into a perfect sphere, triangle or any other shape.
Fall onto a cement floor from a height of 7 feet 6½ inches without breaking anything.
Doctors make no bones about the fact that Tara's case is truly baffling.

"Tara has no skeleton - she was born without any of the 206 bones that are normally found in the human body," confirms Berlin-based orthopedic surgeon Dr. Fritz Holtzman, a world-renowned specialist who has examined the child.

"We believe she lacks a gene necessary for synthesizing calcium in sufficient quantities to manufacture bone.

"It's not that rare for an infant to be born missing a few bones - but for a child to have a birth defect this severe, yet have a normally functioning heart and brain, is remarkable.

"Tara's survival is a genuine medical miracle."

Dr. Holtzman said the only similar case in medical literature is that of a Dutch boy born in 1872 who was exhibited in his teen years as the "Living Scarecrow."

"Although he had no bones except one tibia, he developed muscles so strong that he was able to flail around to music," the German expert said. "He retired as a millionaire, married, had six normal children and lived to the ripe old age of 86."

Having no bones does present serious difficulties, however.

"The skeleton serves to anchor the major muscles as well as being a protective cage for the body's internal organs," Dr. Holtzman explained. "Tara won't be able to walk and will be at increased risk for lung and heart injuries in the future."

Experts hope that some day it may be possible to outfit Tara with artificial bones. But for now, her parents are more than satisfied with their boneless bundle of joy.

"Tara is a little angel," Randi says. "My husband and I couldn't be happier

Ha anyone heard about this guy?  His name is Billy...

Hello,

I am a very sick little boy. My mother is typing this for me, because I
can't. She is crying. Don't cry, Mommy! Mommy is always sad, but she says
it's not my fault. I asked her if it was God's fault, but she didn't answer,
and only started crying harder, so I don't ask her that anymore. The reason
she is so sad is that I'm so sick. I was born without a body. It doesn't
hurt, except when I go to sleep.  The doctors gave me an artificial body. My
body is a burlap bag filled with maple leaves. The doctors said that was the
best they could do on account of us havin' no money or insurance. I would
like to have a body transplant, but we need more money.

Mommy doesn't work because she said employers don't hire crying people. I
said, "Don't cry, Mommy," and she hugged my burlap body.  Mommy always gives
me hugs, even though she's allergic to burlap, and it chafes her real bad.
I hope you will help me. You can help me if you forward this e-mail.

Dr. Johansen said if you forward this e-mail then Bill Gates will team up
with AOL and do a survey with NASA. Then the astronauts will collect prayers
from school children all over America and take them up to space so that the
angels can hear them better. Then they will go to the Pope, and he will take
up a collection in church and send the money to the doctors. The doctors
could help me better then.  Maybe one day I will be able to play baseball.
Right now, I can only play as second base, but the cleats hurt too much. Or
maybe one day, I will be able to use my lungs and heart, when the doctors
make them. The doctors said that every time you forward this letter, the
astronauts can take another prayer to the angels.

Please help me. Mommy is so sad, and I want a body. I don't want my maple
leaves to rot before I turn 10. If you don't forward this e-mail, that's OK.
Mommy says you're a mean heartless person who doesn't care about a poor
little boy with only a head.  She says that she hopes that you stew in the
raw pit of your own guilt-ridden stomach. What kind of wretched person are
you that you can't take five lousy minutes to forward this to all your
friends so that they can feel guilt and shame for the rest of their day, and
then maybe help a poor, bodiless nine-year-old maple leaf boy? Please help
me. This really sucks. I try to be happy but it's hard. I wish I had a
puppy. I wish I could hold a puppy.

Thank You.
Billy 'Nobody' Evans,
The boy with just a head.
And a burlap sack for a body.

I'm calling BS on this one. There is no way for someone to survive without bones. Your body requires bones to produce white blood cells that fight off infection. Bone marrow also is integral in the production of blood. Also, I don't think that it is possible to breath without having a rib cage. When your diaphram contracts and expands the lungs, it is dependent on a stiff rib cage to expand. Not to mention the lack of a cranium to protect the brain.
