Yeah, our guns are tools.

I'm talking about moe traditional tools.

The hammer obviously rates.

But today I'm thinking its the "come along"

The ratcheting cable pulling thingy.

Today I used mine to take down a tree,  getting the tree to lean the right way and fall right where I wanted.

Cool.

What's your favorite / most useful tool??

The comealong and high-lift jack are the winners for bigger tools.  Vice-grips, multitools, and the 8" Snap-on flank drive adjustable wrench are the winners for smaller tools.

The bottom three are never far away from me along with a multi-bit screwdriver.

As a mechanic, it's easily the reversible Gear Wrench.

Second choice is the Power Probe electronic test light, but I say this with some reservation because unfortunately they can be dangerous on todays computer controlled vehicles in the wrong hands.
I've seen inexperienced mechanics power up sensors and wires without a wiring schematic and they caused serious damage to the computer and other expen$ive electronics in the car.

Knife or Leatherman.

If you mean more traditional, then Sawzall. If you mean unpowered hand tool....the hammer.

The 6-in-1 is better - the two double-ended screwdriver tips double as large and small nutdrivers, but the best is the Klein 10-in-1, where each end has holders for tips - phillips, square, tork, hex... and unlike the "kit style" multi-tip drivers, everything stores inside the shaft.

Second choice is the Klein "2000" series steel-capable diagonal cutters (dikes). It's a little work, but they'll pop through that errant 16p and not ding the cutters...

As far as big tools? As a FF, it's a toss up between out air bag lift kits and a hurst / amkus hydraulic cutter/spreader tools set. While the bags use low pressure to lift a lot, the hydraulics use tons of pressure to move a little.

My nail gun.  Shoots up to 3 1/2 inch framing nails as fast as you can pull the trigger.  Has adjustable countersink so you can adjust from shining to 1/4 inch below flush.  Way cool.

For sheer versatilty, the Leatherman style tools. I carry the Schrade myself.

For coolness, the cordless impact wrench.
