I went looking around the local stores for Adobe Photoshop, and found two types. One was Photoshop Elements 3.0, and the other was Photoshop 7.0.

The Elements version had separate packages available for still photos and video, which would be useful, but I have no idea what the difference is between the Elements version and the regular(?) version 7.

I would like to be able to abuse other people's photos, as well as do improvements/corrections to my own photos for non-evil purposes.

Elements dosn't have as many features and 7.0 has more and is a more "pro" version.

Elements is just the basic stuff included and is more geared twords home digital picture takers. It is meant to compete with similar digital picture programs like picture-it and etc.

Photoshop is the full thing - a professional program to manipulate and edit graphic arts, design, etc. Used in tandem with other programs such as illustrator or indesign you can do almost anything.

Photoshop elements and Photoshop 7 will both have a learning curve but P7 is much more of a learning curve.

elements costs very little while Photoshop 7 (legal copies) cost over $600.00

Photoshop CS is the latest version. It is actually Photoshop 8.0 but they call it Photoshop CS. I am a freelance Graphic Designer and the latest version is the best. It is very similar to 7.0 but with a few added features.

That helps narrow down the difference between Elements and regular. I don't remember the price on 7, but I had no idea it was in the $500 range!!

The Elements packages I saw were $80 to $100 for still photos, and about $150 if you got the combo for both photos and videos.

If you just want to play and fvck with people elements will get you by just fine.

Photoshop is for the big boys who plan on making that $600 back!

Is 'Elements' what became of their former 'bargain' version - used to be Photoshop LE (Limited Edition) and it was only $99. (It's what I use, v5.0)
