Yes, aim higher. |
A real man would PUSH them through and use duct tape to mend Just Kidding , Obviously a trip to the ER is in order here . Good news is that graphite won't be rejected by your body if they miss a piece or two . Side Note : In the ER when they ask when your last tetanus shot was , if you hesitate for even a second on the date . They will jab you with a big ass needle that makes your arm sore for 3 days . |
Just amputate and he will be fine. The real problem will be nerve damage and possible infections. Its not a high velocity wound like .223 would cause so there should be minimal impaction of bacteria into the wound but the shaft itself could be dirty. The bones and the tendons will heal over time but it will hurt like hell and will need serious PT. If there is nerve damage there will a significant loss of function and sensitivity. Will need definitely a trip to the OR with the hand surgeon. Chaching! Expensive shit. |
That's becasue most people haven't had a tetanus shot for many, many years, getting "lock-jaw" is no fun, would definitely spoil your Holidays. |
The arrow exploded on release. If you've ever seen slow motion video of an arrow leaving a modern coumpound bow you'll see that they flex a great deal. The arrow expolded well behind the arrow rest (which guides the launch) . It's possible he was using the wrong arrow size for the amount of lbs he was pushing, or it had just started to fail from too much target use. |
O ok, gotcha. Ha, that still reallllly sucks to be that guy. |
+1 That's why when I hear people say graphite arrows are superior because they stay straighter and "when they're broke you KNOW their broke" (unlike aluminum arrows which can have almost imperceptible bends in them which affect accuracy) I just shake my head and think of shit like this. Yeah, this guy definitely knows that motherfucker is broken.

YUP, ALLWAYS weigh your arrows according to the pounds you ar e pullling. and allways I mean ALLWAYS have seperate arrows for target and hunting. I target with arrows set up just like I hunt with, everything, that wya I am good to go, never had a problem. Target arrows get replaced yearly, and hunting arrows are shot once, thats it. |

I used to shoot 3-D a few years back and used carbon arrows. They are extremely strong for frontal impacts. However, side impacts or glancing impacts were a problem. They will either survive or will break. Usually crack and a simple check would tell you. Just grab each end of the arrow and flex it in the middle, if it is cracked you will know immediately. I have witnessed complete blowups from side/ glancing blows. Shot at a target on a tight shot and had it glance off a sapling and the thing disentegrated. All I found was one fletch and the nock. This arrow was either way under spined or cracked before the shot. |
