to help me.  I haven't been able to use my PDA for awhile now because I cannot HotSync with my desktop.
Whenever I log onto my screen name in Windows XP, I get a message that says:
Hot Sync Manager
The selected port, COM 3, is not available at this time.  Hot Sync Manager will open when port becomes available.

Furthermore, when I press the HotSync button on my PDA, I get a message on the PDA that says:   Unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application

I don't have a clue what is occupying this port or even how to find out.  Nor do I know what to do after finding out what is occupying it.  I would appreciate somebody's help because I am quite frustrated.

I blew big bucks on a PDA in May, and I'm thinking I wasted my money. Mostly a PITA....

Check out  www.abfnet.com

It is my friends forum for PDA's, just put me as your refferrer.  Had a nasty troll attack today.  But you can get info for free apps, and programs.  I have an Ipaq 2215, it does lots of neat things, but check out the site.

Here is the forum that I am a mod at: www.purepockets.com. They will help you. Did you check to make sure everything is connected. It sounds like your COM3 port is shot or it is loose.

I had that happen a long time ago when I went from serial to usb. Check to make sure that you have the right settings on the hotsync . Right click the hotsync icon in the task tray and check that you are on USB if USB or on Serial if you have a serial cable. That worked for me and hope it might for you.
Good Luck

When I have a problem with my computer or PDA, I ask my son. He's way smarter than I am in that area.

He better be with a college degree in computer science.
