Anyone here interesting in blades or other melee weapons, i.e. swords, battleaxes, maces and other cool stuff from the middle ages?

Lightning bolt! Lightning bolt! Lightning Bolt! (I'm more into wizardry)!

Modern Melee weapons here.

Bayonets, military knives, ASPs, Cuffs, etc. (Side note: Ever realized how versitile a pair of handcuffs can be when used as a flail....or fist load...or blunt striking instrument?)

I have an interest in older Japanese style swords and other weapons from the 1500s, 1600s and early 1700s. Have one, would love to get more. Don't know a whole lot about the swords themselves, other than how they are made and how unique they are.. no two are alike. Not too good at identifying the smith or anything like that though. I appreciate them for the works of art that they are, and the history they have.

If I've gotten my sorry ass into a situation where I need a melee weapon, then I am well and truly fucked!

That said, YES, I like them!

Unfotunatley it's cast, not forged.

Hey I think I still have my 6' bo stick up in the attic at mom's house.

I used to have one of these but that was many years ago and they are sort of illegal in NY

I'm trying to decide between the Chinese Dao (broadsword) and Jian (straightsword). Gonna try to stick with whichever I choose for as long as possible.

Gotta admit they look good.

I've got a few swords, most of them wall hangers.  One would actually be good in a fight if it was sharpened.

I've also got a crossbow that's made very much like you would have found around the 1500s, except it has an alloy bow to save on weight.

If its a weapon, I'm interested.
Guns, cannons, knives, swords, flails, spears, maces, blowguns, bo staves, you name it. If it can kill/injure/maim/ruin your day, I like it!!

Already banned in Austrailia!  Who would have thought that we would have pre-ban swords?

Swords...Modern reproductions of Medieval European weapons....Angus Trim, Odinblades....Swords that as my wife says "could be put to their original intended use."  If it can't function as the original did I'm not interested.

I collect swords and knives, trying to add spears and a set of brass knuckles to my collection.

On my SHTF shopping list are weighted SWAT-issue gloves. Kevlar-lined leather gloves designed to protect against cold and bladed weapons, and the knuckles have steel shot sewed into the lining. The guy demonstrating them punched through 3/4 inch plywood with them. I'd love to have a combination set of gloves AND brass knuckles that remain completely incospicuous.

I want to learn how to fence (both theatrical and battle) and get a saber... my brother wants to learn Kendo... I tell him, after we each have one year worth of practice at each, I use my foil, he uses his bokken, we both use our padding, and we see who scores the best.

Of course, there's something to be said for getting a WWII nazi e-tool and using that to whack people over the head.

I didn't. They're on my list of things to get. This is the cheapest source I've found so far. They also sell pepper spray grenades, the only place I've found that does so. Might come in handy someday.

hell, a straight stick about 18" in length and about 1.5" in diameter is a great melee weapon.... and it can be thrown with great accuracy!   I used to have a couple short clubs that I could throw at a 8" diameter tree from probably 20 yards away and peg it most of the time.

But yeah, I like swords, but I don't own but a couple.  A couple cheap katanas.  And one with a pattern welded blade, probably isn't worth much, but it's interesting.

I like a 20th Century pikeaxe, (a rifle w/ bayonet).

All my rifles that have lugs have bayonets.

Of course I have more faith in the Garand & Enfield than the M1 Carbine and SP-1.

I picked up some German roit gear surplus in New Orleans. Two clear plexiglass round shields and some heavy rubber batons. It's great, you can look at the person your meleein' while your meleein' 'em.
