Ok, my friend's brother has a question:

He needs to dial a suffic with his modem. He dials 9, a pause (comma), and the number. When the number connects, he needs another number to be dialed. How can he do this? This is for dialup internet. Any ideas?

Who is his ISP?

Win Xp can be programmed to get an outside line first, don't know about the others though.

When i'm at hotels (like i am now) and have to dial out, i just stick a 9 in front of the number with no commas, periods, etc.

You can add commas in the dial string to cause delays. Not the best solution, but can be made to work.

Right, but the problem is the suffix. You never know how many rings it'll take to connect...

I had them for years and after you dial the local number and connect its just a matter of the two modems agreeing to talk to each other and then checking out the username and password.

Are you saying that AFTER you dial and connect it wants another number? (Phone number?)

sounds like you are trying to use a calling card or something.  i used to run a BBS (pre internet) and i have never heard of anyone being able to do this.

Ok, he dials 9, access number, and then a security code. This security code is used in his CBQ bulding for the phone system. Kinda weird that it comes after the access code, but that's what he told me. He lives in quarters. Any idea how to do that?

Editted to add, he can do it with NetZero. NetZero's dialer already has a suffix option. He's trying Netscape internet to see if it works better. Netscape's dialer doesn't have a suffic option, it seems. Does Windows XP dialup networking have it?
