in the past 6 weeks i have noticed the NICS has gone down several times for  several hours. It's been down ALL day since 8:30am.
WTF is going on here? This some form of gun control? shity computers? Grrr! I have a Glock sitting in a store paid for  and i can't touch it. In FL, even if you have a CCW you still have to get a NICS check. I'm so pissed.

It is sh*tty computers - the .gov has computers 10-20 years behind what Private Industry has.  I used to work for a place that had two terminals connected to it, and they were old, old IBM terminals.  The IRS, about 15 years ago, was still using punch cards.  In 1999, the FBI office in Dallas had 386 pc's as their standard desktop, when most private companies had pentiums.  The only .gov agencies that have anything that is state of the art are the NSA, the NRO, the CIA, the the NOAA.

I don't know who runs it - I know it was using really old IBM computer terminals around 1992.

Actually, there wasa bad fiber optic connection(or something like that) at FDLE. I haven't been able to run drivers licenses or criminal histories all afternoon.

I believe NICS is out sourced to a company called EDS.  They are a huge out sourcing IT company that do a lot of .gov (both US and non-us) and have their fingers in just about every major IT project in the world.

Well, the .mil sure has some kick ass stuff. we get more new work stations and servers than you can shake a stick at. They had to rewire for more AC power into the building recently to handle all the additional  draw. Nuff said.

NICS ? ?
In AZ, if you have a CCW, it's just fill out the 4473 and walk out the door.

I am glad to hear that.  The .mil should have the best equipment all around.
