After roughly five years of lurking and posting, I've finally been locked. My "Nothing screams louder" thread was locked on the 37th post. Funny thing is, I was locked under the generic "religious, racial, sexual, along with attacks" guideline--but I mentioned no religion, did not use any racial slurs or terms, used no profanity (sex based or otherwise), and attacked no one personally . . . . ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() . . . . some of you dudes are far more intollerant than you give yourselves credit for. |
Did someone else in the same thread do one of those things ?
|
Do not interpret this thread as crying. Interpret it as merely an observation. . . . |
. . . . that no one cares about. |
+1 Nothing to be pround of. |
. . . . this thread is merely an observation of the locked thread, not a defense if it. But since you brought it up, 37 people cared enough about it to post, and 667 cared enough about it to read it. Son, its locked, just let it go . . . . |

some of us are just increasing our post count.. we could really care less |
i locked that thread. Try reading the COC. if you don't understand it feel free to ask questions. If you can't abide by it........ well you know the rest. mike |
You know why your first thread was locked. You know why this one will be locked. But thanks for the opportunity to increase my post count. IBTL |
BOTD threads are suposed to be restricted to 1-2 threads only. we have been lax on that lately. That is over. |

Uhhhhh......... It's your 2nd: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=123&t=293851&page=2 |
Actually, I don't. It seems like the winds of what is acceptable, are blowing in a different direction these days. My first post dealt with "lifestyle" choices. No names, races, religions, or other identifying information was listed. With this post, I am trying to figure out just what the bounds of acceptability are. You see my friend, the guidelines are written like legaleese--so generic that they could be applied to just about anything someone could find offensive. Believe it or not, my "Nothing screams louder" post was not an attempt at getting locked. Just my $.02, about observations I have made over the years. . . . A few weeks back, I had a post regarding bodyguards in Iraq. I was personally attacked--several times--by a moderator. In that post, I never mentioned the moderators real name, handle, or even the company he works for. Yet, that thread was never locked. I still have not figured that one out. . . .

Moderators have the title throughout the site, but only have moderator powers in their own forum(s) to which they are assigned. If something improper occurred, it does not mean it was "allowed"--it likely meant it was not noticed by the proper Mod or Staff. We cannot possibly see/read everything posted on the site. In the thread referenced in this thread, did you read the comments posted by others? |
link please. Mods have their OWN COC to abide by. We have only a handful of mods here in GD. Not everyone with a MOD title has MOD authority in every forum. As a result we can't look at EVERY thread. Many slip by us until someone points them out. Think about it like this. If something in the back of your mind says "don't post it" that is probobly a good thing to listen to. The garbage posts are going to stop. We don't need to know about your body peircings, bathroom habits, sexual habits, pimples, zits, gental warts or anything else that may fall into the above style categories. Keep it clean and show some courtesy and respect to your other members. That is all i am asking for. Is it really that hard to understand? mike |
