I never personally shot a firearm until I was 19. However I grew up on military bases all over the world so any type of weapon system catches my attention. Always been drawn to the m-16/m-4 platform, and the MP5!

cap guns as small kid, then army men, gi joe, that lead to pellet guns, which lead to a .22LR rifle, which lead to a Colt 45 1911 which lead to..........serious gun addiction!  Toss in about 10,000 war, western, action movies with guns.

No guns for me growing up in Philadelphia.

First hands-on when I was at Fort Jackson, qualified expert on M-16.

Didn't own a firearm till I was 42 and bought a 1911.

Dad had a 12ga he used for hunting pheasants. About the time I 12 or so we found a Remington Mdl 12 .22 rimfire pump in the wall of the house. Who knows how long it was there. Or why.

I remember, even at a very young age, playing at the neighbors house and seeing dad come home with a pheasant or two and being amazed that that little red shell he put in the gun had the energy to propel a small pellet with the force to kill something. I've been interesed in ballistics and the mechanical designs of guns ever since.

When I joined Boy Scouts I got to shoot every summer at summer camp. Really enjoyed the heck out of that.

So I "sort of" grew up around guns. More so than some of you guys, less so others.

Shooting squirrels with a .410 on the family ranch was one of my chores while growing up. Think I was about nine. Happy years. (Still shooting squirrels decades later but with a 10/22.)

Dad hunted a few times as a kid - used to use a rifle (.22 or BB?) ro kill rats at the city dump. But we never had guns in the house. My first exposure was with the Police Department "junior rifle club" in 7th & 8th grades.
