I know alot of people have trouble shipping guns via UPS has anyone used fedex? I am really worried about theft the gun itself isn't worth anything. (sentimental value) Its a old bolt action 22lr that I found at my dads house it was my brothers first gun and I was thinking of shipping it back to him as a christmas present. I think it would blow his mind to see the old thing. anyways If UPS wont ship a gun will fedex? how is their reputation for handling guns, i hate to even say the word gun around those people whats the best way to ship it, express it? Declare that you are sending a gun part? Or just keep your mouth shut and insure it? My friend was a gun dealer for a while and he said the workers use to steal alot of guns?? But if I dont declare it as a gun and they inspect the package I might get in trouble. |
I have shipped handguns and rifles all over the US , ive only used UPS. never had an issue with them, Sent it overnite and insure it for twice what its worth. If it gets lost or stolen, then you doubled you money, plus whom ever stole it made a major federal offense. Also dont lie about what the contents are, that will get you in big trouble. Declare what it is , if it is a rifle , I always write LONGGUN. |
No one with UPS gave you any trouble for shipping a firearm? I heard that it's close to impossible to get insurance money from UPS, you have any experience? Sorry for all the questions

Are you allowed to ship handgun yourself? I though you had to go through a FFL? Your probably right about declaring it as a rifle, chances are they will probably want to check the package, or eventually it will get x rayed somewhere. I would guess if you overnighted it you would be ok, less time for someone to steal it?? |
