Looking for a functional reproduction (non original but NOT a non firing replica) of a Kentucky Flintlock rifle in or around the $300 range. Looking for a decent quality black powder .50 flintlock (not percussion) with the brass stock trapdoor. Who makes them? I want one for basic shits and giggles but don't want to get too much money into it. |
Just spent 30 minutes trying to navigate that damn site and find what I'm looking for. Then I came here. |
Saw those too. Kinda fugly and no trap door. |

Austin and Halleck www.austinhalleck.com/ ![]() For ALOT less you could check www.traditionsmuzzle.com I assume by brass trapdoor you mean the patchbox? |
| Is this what you ar looking for?www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?products_id=5901 |
I think that is as close as I'm gonna get. Thanks. |
Damn that's nice. |
| The traditions patchbox is functional, my son uses his as it's designed. He is 13 years old and built the kit rifle himself in about 5 or so days during last christmas vacation. A shitload of sanding and fitting. I think I paid less than $200 for the kit and $25 finishing supplies. hint .......Brown the barrel, it looks much nicer than blueing. |
| I'll 2nd brown the barrel. When I did my .50 Hawkin that's what I did and it makes it look like an antique instead of a kit gun you just put together.I did have to brown/bake it several times to get a uniform color.I did it in the oven.If you can tie your shoelaces you can put one together. They are a blast to shoot. |
